Mesh & Wall Treatment
Every mesh & wall treatment calculator on CalcEngines — each with its formula, a worked example, the standard it follows and the assumptions it makes.

- CFD Domain Size and Blockage Ratio CalculatorHow far the inlet, outlet and side boundaries of an external-aerodynamics domain have to sit, and the blockage ratio that results — with the Maskell correction so that a confined domain gives you an error estimate instead of a scolding. Works the same arithmetic for a wind-tunnel model, and treats the downstream length separately, because wake decay sets it and it is nearly always the longest dimension.
- CFD Mesh Cell Count EstimatorHow many cells your mesh will have, and how much RAM that implies, worked out before the mesher runs for an hour and falls over. Cell count by region, the multiplier every refinement level contributes, and the prism-layer count on its own — because the inflation layers are usually a third or more of the mesh and almost nobody expects that.
- First Cell Height to y+ CalculatorYou have already built the mesh. This says what y+ it actually reaches, whether that suits the near-wall model you intend to run, and — if you have landed in the buffer layer — exactly how much of the wall shear stress you are losing and which way to move.
- Prism Layer Stack CalculatorThe geometric series behind an inflation layer, done exactly: total thickness, last layer, the jump from the outermost prism into the core cell, and how much of the boundary layer the stack actually covers — with the layer count and the first layer solvable backwards from a target.
- y+ to First Cell Height CalculatorTurn a target y+ into the first cell height you actually have to mesh — with the cell-centroid factor of two made explicit, one consistently LOCAL skin-friction law named on the page, and the regime label and the correlation switching at the same Reynolds number.
