This policy explains what CalcEngines collects when you use calcengines.com, why, and what you can do about it.
The site is operated by CalcEngines. For any privacy question, or to exercise a right described below, email contact@calcengines.com.
The short version
- What you type into a calculator stays on your device. Every calculator here runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter — including any health figures — are not sent to our server, not stored, and not visible to us.
- We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read, and Google AdSense to show advertising. Both set cookies.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run newsletters, accounts or user profiles.
What we collect
Calculator inputs — not collected
The calculators are client-side: the formula and the reference data are delivered to your browser with the page, and the arithmetic happens there. Nothing you type into a calculator is transmitted to us. Closing the tab discards it.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records ordinary web-server logs when a page is requested: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referring page, browser and operating system. These are used to keep the site running and secure, and to investigate abuse. Logs are kept for the period set by our hosting provider and are not used to build any profile of you.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are used and how people arrive. It sets cookies and collects your approximate location (country/region level, from IP), device and browser type, the pages you view and how long you stay. We use this in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individuals.
Advertising
We show advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure adverts, and — where you have consented, or where local law otherwise permits — to personalise them based on your previous visits to this and other sites.
You can review and change your Google ad settings at My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising from participating vendors at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
Contact form and email
If you write to us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply and, where you have reported an error, so we can record the correction. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site uses:
- Necessary cookies — set by WordPress to make the site function, for example to remember a consent choice you have made.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to measure usage.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google and its partners to serve, cap and measure adverts.
Your browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking advertising and analytics cookies does not stop the calculators working; everything on this site remains usable.
Your choices about advertising and tracking
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you are shown a consent message before personalised advertising and analytics cookies are set, and you can accept or refuse. You can change your choice at any time using the Privacy settings link in the footer.
If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law, you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser where they are supported.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Consent — for analytics and for personalised advertising cookies.
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the site secure and available, and for replying to messages you send us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
In practice we hold very little: we have no accounts, no profiles, and no record of anything you typed into a calculator. Most requests concern server logs or an email you sent us. Write to contact@calcengines.com and we will respond within the period your law requires (30 days under the GDPR; 45 days under California law).
If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you similar rights, and you may contact us at the same address.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make the site work:
- Google — AdSense and Analytics (privacy policy)
- Hostlinger.com — hosting and server logs
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
International transfers
Our providers, in particular Google, process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Those transfers rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Children
This site is a technical and professional reference and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we keep WordPress and its plugins updated. No website can promise perfect security, but because we do not collect calculator inputs or operate accounts, there is very little about you here to lose.
Changes
We will update this page when what we do changes, and we will change the date at the top. If a change is significant we will say so on the page rather than quietly editing it.
