Identifying your Fertile Window significantly increases the chances of conception. Ovulation typically occurs 14 days before the start of the next period, but cycle lengths vary between individuals.
This advanced calculator uses the Standard Rhythm Method to forecast your peak fertility days. It also includes timing suggestions based on the Shettles Method theory for gender selection.

Ovulation Signs
Calculators provide estimates. For the best accuracy, combine this data with physical signs:
- Cervical Mucus: Look for “egg white” consistency—clear, stretchy, and slippery. This indicates peak fertility.
- Basal Body Temp (BBT): A slight dip followed by a sharp rise (0.5°F – 1°F) confirms ovulation has occurred.
- Mittelschmerz: Mild cramping or twinges on one side of the lower abdomen.
How to Use
Track Cycle
Enter the first day of your last period. Ensure your “Average Cycle Length” is accurate (default is 28 days).
Plan Intercourse
The 5 days leading up to ovulation are your window. Sperm can survive up to 5 days; the egg survives only 24 hours.
Timing Theory
Check the “Boy/Girl” cards. The Shettles Method suggests timing can influence gender likelihood, though this is theoretical.
